Parents give years of unconditional love and guidance and there is no better time to show our appreciation for their devotion than on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. We dwell for hours or days on the perfect gift, whether it is a heartfelt card, jewelry, clothing, a household item, a personal item, a book or the latest computer product. Many of us will fight the crowds to treat them to a special meal at the best restaurant in town. As a nation we spend a lot of time and money agonizing over the perfect gift of love. In 2010, it is estimated that we spent $24.4 billion on gifts and countless hours navigating the stores to find that special item. After all of this time and expense many of our parents would be just as happy to know that they have made a difference.
Trident Area Agency on Aging has been striving to make a difference in the lives of older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers in need since 1991. Our diverse programs meet the need for information and referrals, long term care advocacy, in-home care, Alzheimer’s and Dementia support, Medicare fraud awareness, and insurance counseling assistance throughout the Trident area.
We would like to ask you to make a difference for someone in need. We receive many calls on a daily basis from residents who cannot pay their rent or utility bill, or they may be in need of basic daily supplies. There are over 600 older adults anxiously waiting to be added to the Home Delivered Meals program in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties. Unfortunately, Trident Area Agency on Aging has limited funds and we are unable to meet the all of the needs within our community. We are asking for your help. The cost for an individual meal is $4.00 a day and only $1,000.00 for an entire year. Please take a moment to honor or remember your Mother, Father or someone special in your life by donating in their name to someone in need.
Your loved one will receive a Mother’s Day or Father’s Day card acknowledging that a donation has been made by you in their honor. You may also honor a loved one in memoriam, and we will place acknowledgement of your support on our website. Because Trident Area Agency on Aging is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization, your donation is tax deductible and is invaluable to our community.
Thank you for your support!
